Impact switches
An impact switch must first survive the setback acceleration of ordnance firing which is typically over 50,000 G and then must be able to sense decelerations on the order of 50 G to appropriately trigger munitions. This device is now being produced at ht micro and for the first time, has been successfully range tested by the US Army. Switch closure is induced int his device, which is used only once, by mechanical impact. The ultra-miniature impact switch has a volume of 2mm3 can be used for the first time in 40mm, 25mm, and even smaller caliber rounds and in larger caliber munitions replaces a device which consumes a volume of 150mm3.
